Locating the Community Folder of Microsoft Flight Simulator

The Community folder of your Microsoft Flight Simulator installation is the place where scenery add-ons and liveries are installed by dropping the downloaded folders in there. However, locating the Community folder often can be a mess, since the path is different depending which platform you were using to install Microsoft Flight Simulator.

What are contributors?

While only one user can upload a file to their Flightsim.to account, they can add contributors to their project or file. Contributors are users who have contributed to a project. Contributors can access the file statistics to view downloads, for example. They can also comment on the file and a "Contributor" badge is displayed next to their name. Contributors can also edit the roadmap of a file and create group announcements. Contributors also receive half of the karma points that the author receives.

However, contributors cannot modify the file, edit it, or upload updates. Only the owner of the file can do that. Essentially, it's about giving decent credit to contributors by displaying them on the project's page.

While we try to prevent any copied liveries from showing up at all, it can still happen that your liveries are being copied and reuploaded, whether it be on this websites or other websites. While we try our best to identify these stolen addons once they are reported, it can still be somewhat cumbersome to proof whether these addons were actually stolen. Watermarking your addons could help us a lot in this case.

While we are already watermarking pictures uploaded by creators to make it harder for other websites to simply reupload your addons, watermarking your own addons can also help with identifying stolen work. Ideally, we would share places where we recommend putting your watermarks, however, this would not help anyone since people could just go to this article, see our recommendations and try to remove watermarks from there. Instead, we'll give some general tips on how to and where to watermark your work.
